Skateboarding challenges observers to examine their preconceptions of what and who a city is for.
I ran across this article written by Ocean Howell. If you not familiar with his name, his was a pro skaterboarder for Birdhouse in the early to mid 90's. More recently, he has been writing articles off and on for Transworld Business. The article itself is kind of lengthly but well worth the effort. It's really interesting to see how far cities are going to subversely control who uses so called "public spaces".
