RIGHT FOOT FORWARD

On the night of August 18 2009 COVERT SKATE SHOP was robbed. An entire selection of shoes were taken, leaving only the 20 display shoes on the wall. To turn this tragedy into something positive we teamed up with BOLD HYPE GALLERY and gave these shoes to some of our favorite artists. The artists will be using these shoes as their canvas or inspiration in creating new pieces of work. On February 20th come see how this negative event in COVERT's history is turned into a positive with this one of a kind art show.

Some of the artists will be Andrew Spear, Dolla, Brice Stephens, Dustin Orlando, Charles Marklin, Dennis Hansbury, Jester,
Nathan Spoor, Scott Scheidly, Rafeal Santiago, Phil Noto, Francesco Lo Castro, Johannah O Donnell, Bagger 43, Patrick Fatica, Douglas Hoffman, DRES 13, David Hoskins and the Diversitile Crew.

January Nike Quick Strike

Well NIKE friends I have to say its a good day. We got 3 quick strikes in this week. 2 Dunk Highs and a Blazer.
The Comic Book dunk actually came in last week but my slow ass is just getting around to posting the picture. The second Dunk high and Blazer is from the LOST pack. Yeah Lost like the TV show. Enjoy.

JANUARY NIKE

Here is the first batch of January NIKE. The Classic High OX Blood starts us off. Im really into the Classic High. I cant wait to take my 9.5 home this week. Next is the Black / Gum Mid. We have been getting a lot of calls about this shoe. It is moving fast. We got a re up on the Black White Dunk High aka VENOM. The Bottom picture is the Blazer high Green Razzel. We are waiting on our Stefan Janoski's. Those will be here this week.

Im not a golfer and until recently I thought it was all about rich white guys in country clubs making shady business deals to keep the common man in check. Im sure this happens at the most exclusive clubs. But now all I here about is being on a Golf Course and smoking weed. I guess Thats were all the weed smoking goes down now. So for all you weed smoking golfers out there who don't have a stick up there ass. I bring you the LIEGER tee.
Trying to capitalize on someone's misfortune may not seem cool to some but hey times are tough. I need to make some scratch any way I can.

HEEL BRUISE

In our never ending quest to find the newest and most legit brands. COVERT is proud to bring you HEEL BRUISE. HB is not another dumb ass skate brand or t shirt brand to be taken lightly. The line was started by Richard Mulder, Thomas Yu, and Roby Jeffers. The distribution is super tight and it is only sold to premiere skate shops in the country. Shops like Supreme, HUF and now COVERT! A little bit of history. Thomas YU the art director is from STUSSY and Richard Mulder was the first skater for STUSSY and NIKE sb. Below is some 1999 footy when he was pro for Chocolate. Below that is the first t-shirt to hit the wall from Heel Bruise. BTW Spring 2010 looks sick. (Im trying to get different pictures my wont load)

ANDREW SPEAR Follow Up

Just wanted to drop a few pictures from the Andrews Spear's art show. The exhibit will be up until January 9, 2010 at BOLD HYPE Gallery 1844 East Winter Park Street. Thanks to Dr. Lisa for the photos. The first photo is the initial piece of the show. Stevie in color. This piece was featured in Juxtapoz magazine. The next is the man of the Hour Andrew Spear. Last but not least you got me (MOT) and KITTYBAT. Not for nothing but we KILLED the after party. Hot Fire!!!! BTW we are doing it again this Saturday at Peacock. But I will save it for another post.

ANDREW SPEAR OH WORD!

Our dear Friend ANDREW SPEAR is having his first solo art show this Saturday Night at BOLD HYPE . You do not want to miss this show. You may have seen some of his murals in the City Arts building downtown. He did the MANTACOR piece on the back wall of Covert. He got a full page write up in this months Juxtapoz magazine. Andrew is killing it! Be on the look out for the Andrew Spear x Covert collaboration Skateboard Deck and Tees early 2010. There is an after Party at the Peacock Room. NIKE SB December

December Nike sb has hit the shelves. First up is the Dunk Low. This is the first color-way by new Nike Team Rider ERIC KOSTON. Second is the black wool Janoski premium. The Skate Mental High looks amazing. My personal favorite
is the Classic High. And to round it off we have the Midnight Fog Bruin. The Bruin has been catching fire. A lot of kids are feeling it to skate in. Not shown is the new Veloce. There you have it. Come get some kicks for the holidays.







I searched for Eric Koston / Nike sb on Youtube. All I got was a bunch of bullshit. This was ok even though its a Fourstar promo. I also dropped his part from YEAH RIGHT. For those sneaker freakers out there who don't know, Eric Koston is pretty much the man...

Fresh Jive Hope is Fading Fast

Rick Klotz from Fresh Jive is up to his old tricks again. After beating on the Bush administration for 8 years he has now turned his attention to our boy OBAMA. Its not so much about our new president sucking. Its more about him continuing the policies of the last jerk in office BUSH. OBAMA needs a wake up call of sorts and Fresh Jive is more then happy to stoke that fire.

Benny Gold

This one could go either way. That is to say it could go on this blog (being primarily about skateboarding and this is a skateboarder) or over at The Beta Press (since Beta actually carries the Benny Gold line). But since the Beta site, for whatever reason, won't let me post videos, the choice was a no brainer.

"We Are Here To Help"

Our new shop board and t-shirt came in the other day. Its our second take on the O.G. Gun Guy logo. The boards are pressed in the good ol' U.S.A and the tees are on American Apparel. The feedback has been phenomenal so far. The shape is very similar to A GIRL / Chocolate but with a tad more concave. Definitely worth a try. Sizes are 7.6, 7.75, 7.8, 8 and 8.1.
8.25 are on there way next week. If you have not skated one yet. What are you waiting for?

We moved Rogue Status from BETA to Covert. Here is the first offering. Shoes. You wont find these in the mall. We are the only shop in town with these. We only got a size run so get here quick.

GIRL and CHOCOLATE

We just got in 75 boards from Girl and Chocolate. We cant even fit them all on the wall. Now is a good time for some wood. As a bonus I typed in Girl Skateboards, this is the first video that popped up.

Quick-Strike HUF Blazers and Gucci Dunk High

The phone has been ringing off the hook. Not sure if these kicks will last more then a day or two. The HUF Blazers have an Old School feel, all Canvas with retro tags. The t shirts and Truckers finish the kit. Can we take back the trucker hat now? I mean it is a DIRT BAG thing. Back to the issue at hand.
