This short from HBO does a really good job at showing you what skateboarding is all about. For once the deep pockets of Corporate America didn't f*ck it up. To bad the same can't be said about the show that this is a companion piece too. That show pretty much sucks at showing you what it's like to live in NYC. On the other hand it was dope to see Kelloggs Diner in last weeks episode. That spot is right up the block from me.

New HUF arrived last week. All the gear looks really nice. HUF is striving to be the next sought after brand on the Skate / Street wear tip. HUF is knocking it out the park. The cut and sew looks great. The solid is a light weight long sleeve the plaid is a light weight short sleeve. Im into tag logo tee and a Patty Hearst tee in white. The hats are solid. Newly in at Covert we have the Wallenburg Dunk Low QS. Given the color-blocking and release timing of the pair, making the St. Patty’s Day connection seemed obvious, but the beer-drenched holiday actually has no bearing on the inspiration behind the colourway. The shoe is actually a tribute to a small pam tree that grew on the steps of the Wallenberg Four, a famous skate spot in San Francisco. The midsole represents the second step of the Wallenberg Four, with the dark-grey colored upper midsole assuming the role as the waxed ledge. The insoles are a close-up image of the tree that rooted itself in the historic skater landmark.

Tuesday March 9th is the RED BULL 3THREE STYLE inside THE GROOVE @ Universal City Walk. Its a free show!!!!
The head line dj is COSMO BAKER. The 3ThreeStyle is a dj contest with 8 up and comer djs from Orlando. Each DJ gets 15 minutes to rock the decks. The only rule is they must play at least 3 different styles of music in there set. They will be judged on music selection as well as mixing skills. Its going to be an awesome party. 18 and up Holla!

RIGHT FOOT FORWARD art show

Presenting the RIGHT FOOT FORWARD benefit art show. During the Summer of 2009 Cover Skateshop was broken into, and their entire shoe inventory was robbed,leaving owner, Tommy Mot, with nothing but a wall full of right shoes. Tommy came up with the idea to give all the floor models to local artists for them to redesign and sell to benefit Covert. Some of the artists include Andrew Spear,Dolla Bill, Dres13, just to name a few. Fastforward to February 20, 2010 at Bold Hype art gallery where we see Covert fans here to support the shop. Big thanks to Covert Skateshop, Andrew Spear and all the contributing artists, and Bold Hype Gallery for hosting the event. Pictures of all the art work will be in another post.

After a momentary mix up, ADIDAS finally shipped. Unfortunately It is not our complete order. But everything looks good for the March shipment. Anyway here is what we were able to get our hands on. Campus Vulc Espresso, Campus Vulc
Black White re-up and the Skate in Silver. There is a little SKATE uprising happening. This shoe is supposed to be the next big ADIDAS style. Light with great board feel. Its also reasonably priced. So come and get it.

On the night of August 18 2009 COVERT SKATE SHOP was robbed. An entire selection of shoes were taken, leaving only the 20 display shoes on the wall. To turn this tragedy into something positive we teamed up with BOLD HYPE GALLERY and gave these shoes to some of our favorite artists. The artists will be using these shoes as their canvas or inspiration in creating new pieces of work. On February 20th come see how this negative event in COVERT's history is turned into a positive with this one of a kind art show.

The line was started by Richard Mulder, Thomas Yu, and Roby Jeffers. The distribution is super tight and it is only sold to premiere skate shops in the country. Shops like Supreme, HUF and now COVERT! A little bit of history. Thomas YU the art director is from STUSSY and Richard Mulder was the first skater for STUSSY and NIKE sb. December Nike sb has hit the shelves. First up is the Dunk Low. This is the first color-way by new Nike Team Rider ERIC KOSTON. Second is the black wool Janoski premium. The Skate Mental High looks amazing. My personal favorite
is the Classic High. And to round it off we have the Midnight Fog Bruin. The Bruin has been catching fire. A lot of kids are feeling it to skate in. Not shown is the new Veloce. There you have it. Come get some kicks for the holidays.

I searched for Eric Koston / Nike sb on Youtube. All I got was a bunch of bullshit. This was ok even though its a Fourstar promo. I also dropped his part from YEAH RIGHT. For those sneaker freakers out there who don't know, Eric Koston is pretty much the man...

Our new shop board and t-shirt came in the other day. Its our second take on the O.G. Gun Guy logo. The boards are pressed in the good ol' U.S.A and the tees are on American Apparel. The feedback has been phenomenal so far. The shape is very similar to A GIRL / Chocolate but with a tad more concave. Definitely worth a try. Sizes are 7.6, 7.75, 7.8, 8 and 8.1.
8.25 are on there way next week. If you have not skated one yet. What are you waiting for?

I got turned on to this blog called IGNORED PRAYERS Its a pretty awesome blog to waste time on. Its filled with random pictures and videos. A few pages deep I saw this hip hop track by Dirt Nasty from Dyslexic Speed-readers. The track is dissing the fuck out of ED HARDY clothing. I see people wearing ED in Covert sometimes, It makes me laugh because that shit is rotten. Seriously rotten. I like to think Covert and our sister BETA are here to keep you informed on what is legit. HUF fall 2009 has hit the shelves. Here are some pictures we took from High Snobiety which they took from HUF. We are really pleased to be carrying the brand in Covert. The t-shirts are really clean. The New Era and Brick 5 panels definitley work. But the Hoodys are my favorite. We got them in back, waiting until the weather to changes. Congrats to our team rider Robert Lopez Mont for qualifying for the rest of the DEW TOUR stops. Robert was also picked to be in the Transworld Best trick contest. He totally had that that shit until Jordan Hoffat pulled a big spin heel on the back board. Regardless Robert was throwing down BIG tricks and was turning heads. The video below is from the Transworld website. Peep best trick. They didnt get the kickflip 50/50 on the backboard. (which was so sick).. All the judges were really impressed with Robert's style. He really turned some heads. Watch out for Robert he is going to be knocking dudes out on tour. After the summer is over everybody will know who he is.

Its been such a pain in the ass. Let me tell you. Tons of Lost footage, Computer Crashes, Multiple filmers and editors. Punk kids hi jacking footy. Ryan Nix getting the camera stolen in Miami was a real heartbreaker. Marco's new footage being recorded in some European standard that isn't compatible with the rest of the video sucked ass. So basically we decided to call it a wrap before the footy got to old. Besides some of the footy started popping up in other videos. Oh well, I hope there is a learning curve.

But for all the B.S. I must say its a pretty good video. Our team is solid. A.j. Burnett living the dream in Hollywood, Marco Lambertucci killing it in Italy, Fred Tan nuff said! Ryan Oconner RipnDip bitches. Oh and lets not forget the monster Robert Lopez Mont....Insane...Of course maybe our best rider doesnt even have a part. That would be Willy D Billions. Maybe next time we will keep better track of his footy. There is just so many more things to say and stories to tell. One thing for sure we learned a lot and will try not to repeat the same mistakes on the next project.

I ran across this article written by Ocean Howell. If you not familiar with his name, his was a pro skaterboarder for Birdhouse in the early to mid 90's. More recently, he has been writing articles off and on for Transworld Business. The article itself is kind of lengthly but well worth the effort. A customer asked me about a sneaker called Blue Lobster. I told him the Lobsters came out last year. ANyway I decided to search it a bit and this is what I came up with. Thought I would share it with you. I got pinched by a couple of these bastards over 10 years ago in CAPE COD. I was coming in from surfing and a couple of these clamped on my toes. I jumped back on my board and paddled in to shore. One of them actually was still on my foot when i made it to shore. Im really glad lifeguards were there to fix me up.
